Use Sim Racing Studio's Motion Test to confirm that the platform moves smoothly, responds on each available axis, returns to center, and has safe cable clearance before opening a simulation.
Prepare for the Test
Keep the platform unoccupied for the first test. Clear the full motion area and keep children, pets, tools, furniture, and loose cables away. Make sure the seat and controls are secure and the power-disconnection method is easy to reach.
Confirm the SRS Connection
Open SETUP → Hardware and confirm:
• Motion is enabled, DOF REALITY is selected, and the correct model is saved.
• Motionbox remains green.
Close any other 3rd party software (examples: CrewChief, SimHub, Fanatec Apps, Shaker Software, etc) before testing.
Start Motion Test
In SETUP → Hardware, scroll to the MOTION section.
Select Start Test beside Motion Test.
Choose one axis and move its slider only a small amount.
Return the slider to center.
Test the opposite direction.
Repeat for each available axis, one at a time.
Watch the actual platform—not only the screen. Movement should be controlled, cables should remain loose and clear, mounts should stay secure, and the platform should return toward its normal center position.
Stop Immediately If
Disconnect platform power for violent or uncontrolled movement, a one-sided drop, continuing movement after the slider is centered, frame or floor contact, cable tension, severe noise, overheating, a tripped breaker, or a loose component.
Never try to stop or hold a moving platform by hand. Wait for all movement to stop before approaching it.
Complete a Seated Check
After every axis passes the unoccupied test, sit normally in the secured seat and repeat small, low-intensity movements one axis at a time. Keep the observer outside the motion area.
Stop if the loaded platform behaves differently, becomes unbalanced, strains unusually, contacts anything, or pulls a cable.
Finish the Test
Return all sliders to center and end Motion Test. Turn off and unplug platform power, then confirm that nothing shifted, loosened, rubbed, overheated, or changed the platform's centered position.
Movement Test Checklist
• Every axis moved smoothly in both directions and returned to center.
• Cables and surrounding objects remained clear.
• The seated low-intensity check passed.
• No abnormal noise, heat, odor, or loose part was found.
After the test passes, continue to Configure Your First Game. If a simulation does not move, focus on title support, telemetry, or simulation settings rather than platform hardware.
